Stompin' Tom Connors (Charles Thomas Connors) was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on February 9, 1936. He is one of Canada's prolific and well-known folk singers. His songs often pay tribute to Canadians, our lore and history.
Tom’s habit of stomping the heel of his left boot got him the nickname "that stompin' guy" or "Stomper". On Canada's 100th birthday, July 1, 1967, the name Stompin' Tom Connors was first used.
Connors was one of four musicians pictured on the second series of the Canadian Recording Artist Series issued by Canada Post stamps in 2009.
One of his best known songs is The Good Old Hockey Game.
